I hope you are all safe, well and back to training and playing with your football teams or Academies. It's been a long time without football but it's gradually coming back. Here's what I got up to last month...
I had 1 friendly match for my old team, then they folded sadly. So me and my friend Luka set about finding a new team in the top 2 divisions locally. This isn't easy for a goalkeeper as most teams have one and won't change them. So we had to find a top level team who needed a Goalkeeper AND a tricky left-footer... We advertised on a local Facebook junior football group and got a lot of replies.
We chose 2 teams to trial with and they both asked us to join, which gave us a choice to make. We joined Galleywood Kestrels U12 and we've played in 4 pre-season friendlies already (including 1 against Hashtag Utd Youth). They are a great team and want to play with just 2 in defence and me as a sweeper, which is great for my development. To watch some of my match highlights with self-analysis click the image above.
We took a much-needed break from YouTube during July/August but still published 6 videos; 4 VLOGs, a Henry v Dad challenge and our 1st match highlights video. We aim to produce 2 videos per week going forward with an occasional extra video thrown in when we can. This is down to time now that Henry is at Secondary School and will be very busy with homework and football.
I've tried to get back into my golf during the summer but with my ankle injury that got put on hold for about 5 weeks. I played a couple of times when I was nearly recovered but could only walk 3 holes. I aim to get back to my golf lessons every 2 weeks from September though. I also played a bit of crazy golf (mini golf) and Footgolf with friends which always good fun.
I had 3 group goalkeeper sessions during August and it was great to be back at Evolve.PA again. My other goalkeeper coach, Terry Mason, invited me to do a 2:1 with him and the U13 Leicester City FC Academy Goalkeeper, Charlie. This was a brilliant session and I'm looking forward to starting my group sessions with TMGA again in September.
I also had a week away in Porth, near Newquay in Cornwall which was brilliant. I tried body boarding for the first time and loved it. Bought a wetsuit and board so I will definitely be doing this again. We stayed right on the beach in a modern penthouse apartment overlooking the beach. Dad had to stay home as he had an eye operation. To see all about this and my holiday, watch that week's VLOG.
